The QuickBooks Summer Discount Ends Tomorrow

QuickBooks Online's Summer Savings promotion gives new customers 90% off their first three months. It ends tomorrow, August 27, 2026.
Prices already went up
Intuit raised prices on August 1, 2026, for QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus, and Advanced. Website pricing updated on August 3. Simple Start and Ledger were left where they were.
So the discount is a three-month cushion against an increase that already landed. When those three months end, your subscription renews at the current list price.
That distinction matters for how you should think about this. You're not locking in a rate. You're buying yourself a runway to find out whether the software is worth its real price to you.
90% off, the first three months look like this:
• Simple Start — around $3.80/month, then $38/month • Essentials — roughly $8.50/month, then $85/month • Plus — around $14/month, then $140/month • Advanced — around $34/month, then $340/month
Confirm the exact figures on the pricing page before you buy.
For a small business on Simple Start or Essentials, the first quarter costs less than a couple of lunches. For a business on Plus or Advanced, the savings run into the hundreds.
The case for moving on it
The real cost of accounting software isn't the subscription. It's the switch. Somebody has to open the account, connect the bank feeds, import the customer list, check that the historical numbers came across clean, and learn where everything lives. That's a project, and it competes with work that's already overdue.
A discounted first quarter makes it cheaper to attempt. If you set it up in September and decide by November that it's not for you, you're out about twelve dollars on Simple Start instead of a little over a hundred. That's a genuinely different risk calculation, and it's the strongest argument for signing up during a promotion rather than "when things slow down."
There's also a calendar argument. Setting up bookkeeping software in late August gives you four clean months before year-end. Start in December and you're reconciling a year of transactions during the exact stretch when you have the least patience for it.
Who should probably skip it
Be honest about a few things before you buy.
If you're a solo operator with a handful of invoices a month and no employees, Simple Start may be more than you need. QuickBooks now offers a free tier and a lighter self-employed plan, and neither was part of the August increase.
If you already use accounting software that works, a three-month discount is a weak reason to migrate. Migration costs you time and introduces errors. Ninety percent off a tool you don't need is still a recurring expense you didn't have.
And if you're currently choosing between paying for software and paying a bookkeeper, pay the bookkeeper.
The fine print worth knowing
• New customers only. Existing QuickBooks accounts don't qualify. • You have to buy, not trial. Starting a free trial disqualifies you from the promotional price. If you want the 90%, use the "Buy Now" option. • It's the monthly plan. The discount applies to monthly billing for the first three months of service. • It doesn't stack. The offer can't be combined with other QuickBooks promotions. • You can cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period, and there's no prorated refund.
If you work with an accountant or bookkeeper who's a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, they can buy the subscription through their partner portal at a 30% discount that doesn't expire in three months. That's a smaller number today and a better one in month four. If you have that relationship, ask before you check out on your own.
If you're deciding tonight
Ask yourself one question: do you already know you need this?
If yes, buy it before the deadline. The setup can wait until next week.
